For over 20 years, I served people with "disabilities", the majority being diagnosed with mental health concerns. The most recent contract, I worked as a service provider for the provincial government, helping people to become self employed. Initially, it was my intent to help people to become self sufficient and no longer dependent on the government but what I found was a system not set up to allow this to happen. One thing lead to another and I started looking at my contribution to the largest minority group on the planet and it was game over. What I found was no less than criminal.
Now, it is my intent to shed some light on mental health and to offer science based solutions to those who are looking for another point of view. Clearly, what we are doing is not working.
My perspective has shifted quite dramatically since resigning as a Business Coach. To start, I became a full-time Researcher. It started with the government disability system and mental health but that was just the beginning. Life circumstances had me looking into the "health care", education, the legal system - all of it. At the same time, I started researching quantum physics, biology and psychology (which I ended up teaching at a local college).
What I know for sure; what I teach, I lived. When I look back, I can clearly see; I was programmed. Sounds crazy until you do the research but what actually is crazy; I had no idea. And neither does 90% of the population - statistically speaking that is. And this is how The Science of Mindfulness was conceived - to share a perspective of life that has become a way of life for me. Science shows; mindfulness has the potential to not only change an individual but all of Humanity.
I am also mom to one - my miracle who was born at 24 weeks. Zach was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy and moves through the world differently - not only do I have professional experience in "the world of disabilities" but personally as well. He has and continues to change my life and it is my mission to make this world a better place for him and as many others as possible.
